We Will Be Like Him

Sunday, November 29, 2026 · Day 29

Biblical Focus: The Final Transformation

1 John 3:2 (NLT)

Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like. But we do know that we will be like him when he comes, for we will see him as he really is.

All month we have talked about transformation as a process: "more and more." But today John lifts our eyes to the end of the process. One day, the transformation will be complete.

"We will be like him." Read that slowly. Every trace of sin gone. Every wound healed. Every distortion straightened. The image of God in you fully restored. Not a better version of you, but the true you, fully conformed to Christ (Day 1, Romans 8:29). God's purpose, fulfilled.

And notice how the final transformation happens: "for we will see him as he really is." It is the same principle we learned on Day 3. We become like what we behold. Now we see dimly, through a veil of flesh and a fallen world. Then we will see Him face to face, and the sight of Him will complete what our glimpses of Him began.

This hope is not escapism. The very next verse says, "And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure" (v. 3). The certainty of the future shapes the way we live now. If you will be like Him forever, begin becoming like Him today.

There is great comfort here for anyone who is weary of their own failures. The struggle will not last forever. One day you will look at Jesus and finally, fully, look like Him.

The Practice of Transformation

Spend ten minutes imagining, with Scripture as your guide (Revelation 21:3–5), the moment you will see Jesus face to face. Then ask: "In light of that day, what one thing should I change today?" Do it.

✦ Reflection ✦

How would your life look different if you truly lived in light of seeing Him face to face?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I long to see You as You are. Until then, make me pure, and make me more like You every day. Amen.

One look at Him will finish what a lifetime of glimpses began.
